In 1978, Herman Kistler began selling and marketing Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) for Consolidated Aluminum. ACM would become one of the most specified exterior cladding products in modern construction.
After six years of promoting ACM and other architectural metals, Herman, along with Wylie and John McDougall, incorporated Kistler McDougall as a specialty contractor in 1984.
We’ve always been known for our expertise in the exterior metal skin market, but our range of products and services has evolved and expanded over the years.
The introduction of Kalwall Translucent Panel Systems and Solatube International Daylighting Solutions has provided more opportunities for collaboration with architects and owners in managing the appropriate daylighting levels for their designed spaces.
Now known as simply “Kistler,” we’ve become one of Kalwall and Solatube’s most successful distributors and are renowned for our problem-solving and solutions-based approach.
Focused on North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and the Caribbean, we’ve managed, fabricated, bonded, and financed projects, large and small. Valued clients include many universities, airports, hospitals, and major corporations.
Our portfolio includes work on some of North America’s most recognizable buildings.
Bhrett Kistler and Kurt Kistler manage Kistler.
Bhrett was born in Birmingham, Alabama, but raised in Marietta, Georgia, where some of his earliest memories are of visiting job sites. As a teenager, he worked with his dad on summer and holiday breaks, learning to read architectural drawings.
After graduating from the University of Georgia with a BA in International Business and Economics, he put his degree to use, going to work and joining the company in 2001. Today, he is the President of Kistler and runs the company’s day-to-day operations. With a people-first philosophy, Bhrett values having partners who embrace fast-coming changes in the industry and move quickly to deliver top-quality products and solutions.
Bhrett and his wife support fantastic local causes, including the 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, Anna Crawford Children’s Centers, and Camp Twin Lakes, which offers transformative camps for children with serious illnesses, disabilities, and other life challenges.
When he’s not working or volunteering, Bhrett enjoys spending time with family, traveling, supporting the Atlanta Braves and UGA, and watching his kids play sports. He resides in Metro Atlanta with his wife and two beautiful children.
Kurt was born at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, and his passion for the industry goes back to his high school years. He earned his degree in International Economics with a minor in Spanish from Georgia Southern University, broadening his understanding of the global economic landscape. Kurt joined Kistler in 2003, starting as an apprentice estimator. He steadily ascended through the ranks, eventually assuming the role of Vice President. In his current capacity, he spearheads the daylighting division, guiding the company’s trajectory with strategic decision-making and innovative solutions.
Kurt’s leadership style is defined by a commitment to the path of least resistance, swiftly analyzing challenges, and implementing practical solutions to ensure seamless progress and sustainable growth. While commercial construction presents its share of challenges, Kurt takes pride in the transformative impact of Kistler’s completed projects, which continue to inspire and fuel his determination.
Beyond the professional realm, Kurt has dedicated years to youth leadership at Mt. Paran North Church of God, fostering growth and positivity within the community. He enjoys spending quality time and creating memories traveling with his wife and young son. His other interests include electric skateboarding, exploring the skies with drones, and just generally hanging out with the family, including their awesome dogs, Max and Milo.
